Evening Programs

Each night of your stay at Blue Sky Meadow Outdoor Science School, we have a special program planned for you.  Evening Programs are 1.5 hours long, and generally run from 7:00pm-8:30pm nightly.

Monday: Campfire

On your first night at Blue Sky Meadow, our Naturalists will lead a fun evening program around the campfire (weather permitting), filled with songs, stories, and a surprise!  You will also enjoy a short walk around our meadow to explore the evening sights and sounds.

Tuesday: Night Hike!

On Tuesday night, you will head out with your Naturalist group for your Night Hike - many students and cabin leader's favorite experience of the whole week.  You will explore the meadow and forest without flashlights, learn about the nocturnal animals of Blue Sky Meadow, practice using your five senses in a new environment, and experience human night vision. Finally, you will explore the amazing night sky - full of stars, planets, meteors, satellites, the moon, and, if you are lucky, even the Milky Way!

Wednesday: Dance Night!

On Wednesday night, you will head down to Club Juniper, nestled beneath Blue Sky Meadow's towering Lodgepole Pine, where our Naturalists will greet you in their silliest outfits.  Dance Night is a chance to shake your sillies out while our Naturalists teach you some simple dance moves, and we try them all out together to popular music.  At the end of the night, you will have the opportunity to show off your favorite dance moves in a free style dance.

Thursday:  Skit Night!

On Thursday night, we will all gather together in the Lodge for Skit Night!  During the week, each cabin group will prepare a short skit (3-5 minutes) on a science theme (provided on Monday), and tonight is the night you get to perform!  You might be a tree, a molecule of carbon dioxide, or a mysterious bobcat, but whatever part you play, Skit Night is the chance to enjoy each cabin group's performance, to laugh, to learn, and to reflect on all the things you have experienced at Outdoor Science School.
